Warranty FAQs

Warranty FAQs

What does the AE Sewing Machines warranty cover?

The AE Sewing Machines warranty covers manufacturing defects in materials or workmanship under normal operating conditions, where equipment has been installed, operated, and maintained in accordance with supplied instructions and its intended use.

Warranty coverage is provided in line with our Terms & Conditions of Sale and Warranty & Product Policy.

How long is the warranty period?

Unless otherwise stated, new equipment supplied by AE Sewing Machines includes a 12-month back-to-base warranty.
Warranty duration may vary depending on the specific product or agreement.

Are consumable parts covered under warranty?

No. Consumable and wear parts are not covered under warranty.

Certain components are designed to wear down through normal use and require routine replacement. This is expected and does not indicate a manufacturing defect.

Examples of non-warranty consumable or wear parts include (but are not limited to):

  • Needles

  • Belts

  • Bobbins and bobbin cases

  • Feed dogs

  • Presser feet

  • Loopers, knives, and cutting components

  • Springs, screws, and guards

These items are excluded from warranty as stated in our Terms & Conditions of Sale and Warranty & Product Policy.

Why aren’t wear parts covered by warranty?

Wear parts are intended to degrade over time as part of normal machine operation. Their lifespan depends on:

  • Usage intensity

  • Materials being sewn

  • Operating environment

  • Maintenance practices

Because wear is expected, replacement of these parts is considered normal maintenance rather than a warranty issue.

Is wear and tear covered under warranty?

No. General wear and tear resulting from normal use is not covered under warranty and is not considered a manufacturing defect.

What happens if a part fails due to misuse or incorrect operation?

Warranty does not apply where failure or damage results from:

  • Use outside the machine’s intended purpose

  • Operating the machine in a way it was not designed to be used

  • Using unsuitable materials, consumables, or settings

Using equipment contrary to its design or specification can invalidate warranty coverage.

Does incorrect installation affect warranty?

Yes. Damage or faults caused by incorrect installation, setup, or adjustment are not covered under warranty.

Equipment must be installed and configured in accordance with supplied instructions and manufacturer guidance.

Do modifications or third-party repairs affect warranty?

Yes. Warranty may be void if:

  • The machine has been modified without authorisation

  • Repairs or alterations have been carried out by unauthorised third parties

  • Non-approved parts have been fitted

Unauthorised modifications can affect safety, performance, and warranty eligibility.

How does a warranty repair work?

Under the standard warranty terms:

  • Warranty repairs are carried out on a back-to-base basis

  • Machines must be returned to AE Sewing Machines for inspection and repair unless otherwise agreed

If on-site attendance is required, travel time and mileage may be chargeable, even where a warranty issue is confirmed.

Are replacement parts free under warranty?

Only parts replaced due to a confirmed manufacturing defect are covered under warranty.

Consumable or wear parts required during a repair are chargeable, even if the repair itself relates to a warranty issue.

What if I believe a fault should be covered under warranty?

If you are unsure whether an issue is covered:

  • Review the Warranty & Product Policy

  • Check the Terms & Conditions of Sale

  • Contact AE Sewing Machines Support for clarification

Each case is assessed based on usage, condition, and the nature of the fault.

Why is understanding warranty coverage important?

Understanding warranty coverage helps:

  • Set clear expectations

  • Avoid disputes over consumable parts

  • Plan maintenance and servicing correctly

  • Protect long-term machine performance

AE Sewing Machines aims to be transparent and fair, while applying warranty terms consistently and in line with our published policies.

Where can I find the full warranty terms?
